CAMERA, MICROPHONE & RECORDINGS
Some TrainMe activities use audio or video because speaking, teaching performance, and progress are difficult to evaluate from written answers alone. Here is exactly what that means.
TrainMe relies on browser permissions. Your device will ask before camera or microphone access begins. You can deny permission, but a recording-required activity may not be completable without the required media.
| Learning practice | Replay your speaking or teaching performance and notice what to improve. |
|---|---|
| Completion evidence | Confirm that a required speaking, practice, or demonstration task was actually completed. |
| Trainer review | Allow an authorized trainer/admin to review pronunciation, fluency, teaching, or assessment performance. |
| Progress comparison | Compare earlier and later recordings, including Day 0 vs later/final English Improvement recordings. |
| Assessment integrity | Support one-attempt or timed speaking assessments where identity/performance evidence matters. |
Depending on the task, TrainMe may store the recording file, storage path, duration, date/time, lesson or assessment reference, and related completion/review information. Some activities may store audio only; others require video.
Recordings are intended for the learner and authorized TrainMe trainers/administrators who need access for course delivery, review, assessment, support, or progress comparison. TrainMe does not treat private course recordings as public content.
Some teaching-practice tasks may ask you to share course material or a screen while keeping your camera visible. Browsers may require you to choose what to share; TrainMe cannot bypass browser security prompts. Avoid sharing unrelated tabs, notifications, passwords, private messages, or other sensitive content.
Camera/microphone behavior can vary by browser, operating system, device permissions, connection quality, and hardware. If recording is required and the browser fails, use Help & Support instead of repeatedly submitting incomplete evidence.
Recordings are kept as long as reasonably needed for training, assessment, progress evidence, support, dispute handling, security, or legitimate recordkeeping. You may ask about eligible deletion through Help & Support. Some records may need to be retained where required for course integrity, payment/dispute records, security, or law.
Record only yourself unless the activity specifically requires another participant who has agreed to be recorded. Do not intentionally capture confidential conversations, private documents, other people without permission, or unrelated personal information.
